What SRT is:

Stimulus Response Training is an educational program in applied nervous system regulation. It teaches participants how to recognize their stress patterns, work with their physiology, and build skills for self-regulation under pressure. The program is grounded in current neuroscience and evidence-informed practice, with a prevention and performance focus.

What SRT is not:

SRT is not therapy, counseling, psychotherapy, medical treatment, or psychiatric care. It is not a diagnostic service. It is not a substitute for treatment of any mental health condition, including but not limited to post-traumatic stress disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, major depression, or substance use disorder. Mark Dust, PhD is not a licensed therapist, counselor, psychologist, psychiatrist, or medical doctor. No clinical or treatment relationship is created by participating in SRT.

Who should not participate:

SRT is designed for participants who are not in an active mental health crisis. You should not enroll in or participate in SRT if any of the following currently apply to you:

  • You are experiencing active suicidal ideation or have a recent history of suicide attempts.
  • You are in an acute mental health crisis or have been hospitalized for mental health reasons within the past ninety (90) days.
  • You are in active substance use or within thirty (30) days of acute withdrawal.
  • You have been advised by a licensed mental health or medical provider not to engage in nervous system regulation, somatic, or interoceptive practices.

If any of the above apply to you, please seek appropriate professional care before considering SRT. If you are unsure whether SRT is appropriate for you, consult with your licensed mental health or medical provider before enrolling.

If you are currently in treatment:

If you are currently working with a therapist, psychiatrist, or other licensed provider, we strongly encourage you to discuss SRT with that provider before enrolling. SRT is intended to complement, not replace, professional care.

What can come up:

Nervous system regulation work can sometimes bring up unexpected physical sensations, emotional responses, or memories. This is a normal physiological response and is addressed within the program through pacing and titration. However, if at any point during SRT you find yourself overwhelmed or experiencing symptoms that exceed your capacity to manage, you are responsible for stepping out of the program and seeking appropriate professional support. Participation is at your own discretion and at your own risk.
